About The Position

Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking experienced CDL B Rear Load Truck Drivers for their Plainfield, NJ dispatch location. This is a Monday-Friday position with hourly pay of $27.00. IWS is a leading provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country, serving Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and expanding into Pennsylvania and Ohio. They pride themselves on balancing corporate standards with a family-style culture, prioritizing employee, customer, and environmental safety. Drivers are responsible for safely operating rear-loading trucks to pick up waste or recyclable materials, transporting them to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. The role may involve multiple trips per shift and requires the ability to operate both manual and automatic trucks. Drivers must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, move and maneuver up to 100 pounds, and frequently mount and dismount the truck.

Requirements

  • 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Airbrake Endorsement
  • 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
  • Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
  • Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
  • Ability to Speak & Read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic & signals, respond to official questions & make legible entries on reports & records
  • Ability to read & understand a map
  • Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
  • Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
  • Transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility, and may make one or more trips throughout the shift.
  • Perform driver pre and post inspections to ensure the truck is in compliance with IWS’s safety standards, OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
  • Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
  • Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
  • Routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
