About The Position

Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking experienced CDL B Front Load Truck Drivers for their Plainfield, NJ location. This role focuses on the safe operation of front-loading trucks for waste and recyclable material pick-up, transporting materials to disposal or recycling facilities. IWS is a progressive provider of solid waste and recycling services, known for its commitment to safety and a family-style culture within a large corporate structure. The company serves Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and has expanded into Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Requirements

• 21 years of age or older and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid Class A or B CDL.
• Airbrake Endorsement.
• 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
• Great Safety Record and Clean MVR.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
• Ability to speak and read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records.
• Ability to read and understand a map.
• Meet physical and safety requirements of the position.
• Willing and able to work required hours, including potential weekends, nights, and holidays, as allowed under DOT regulations.
• Front Load Garbage Truck experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuse Company is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
• Transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility, potentially making multiple trips per shift.
• Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
• Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
• Routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
• Perform driver pre and post inspections to ensure truck compliance with safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
