About The Position

Clean Harbors is seeking a Class A CDL Driver/Hazmat in Hampden, Maine to operate a variety of heavy- and light-duty trucks and work equipment at customer sites. Vehicles may include vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, and roll-offs. The position includes driving and non-driving work associated with hazardous-waste cleanup, both on and off customer sites, and may involve site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling hazardous materials.

The role requires travel, on-call availability, and emergency response. Depending on the position, drivers may be expected to participate in a rotating emergency-response on-call schedule every other week. New hires must attend a paid, one-week training academy out of state; the company pays travel expenses. The hourly pay range is $27.00–$29.00.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission.
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
• Ability to use various mobile devices.
• Ability to perform the physical functions required by the job.
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, when required by the position.
• Meet facial-hair standards under OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, if the position requires respirator use.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety by complying with safe-work practices, policies, and processes.
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers as needed.
• Operate a variety of Class A trucks.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Perform manual labor at customer sites to meet customer needs.
• Properly placard vehicles according to company and Department of Transportation requirements and regulations.
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and other reports.
• Follow local, state or provincial, and federal compliance rules and regulations.
• Operate vehicles safely in accordance with U.S. DOT and applicable local, state or provincial, and federal requirements.
• Follow corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
• Follow company environmental, health, and safety operating guidelines.
• Participate in rotating emergency-response on-call duty every other week when required by the position.
• Perform site remediation, equipment decontamination, and hazardous-material handling when required by the position.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
