About The Position

The Class A Driver operates tractor-trailer combinations to deliver products to customers accurately and on schedule. The driver works and trains from MAT LAX at 12833 Chadron Avenue, Hawthorne, California, and is home daily. The role includes communicating with dispatch, complying with traffic and trucking regulations, securing and verifying cargo, maintaining required records, inspecting and maintaining the vehicle, and loading and unloading freight. Starting compensation is $28.00 per hour. Applicants with TWIC, HAZMAT, or DBIDS endorsements may receive higher starting pay.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience.
Valid California Class A license and current medical card.
Experience transporting and handling freight.
Current 10-year DMV printout.
Ability to pass a TSA Security Threat Assessment background check.
Hazardous Materials endorsement.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English.
Basic mathematical skills.
Extensive knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.

Nice To Haves

Route delivery experience and familiarity with Los Angeles County.
TWIC.
DBIDS.

Responsibilities

Drive tractor-trailer combinations to deliver products to customers in a timely and accurate manner.
Communicate and coordinate respectfully with dispatchers.
Obey applicable traffic laws and comply with truck-driving rules and regulations.
Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
Maintain a driving log in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Identify mechanical issues and ensure they are noted and corrected before driving.
Meet delivery schedules.
Report defects, accidents, and violations.
Perform basic daily truck maintenance, such as refueling and cleaning.
Load and unload trucks using forklifts and/or pallet jacks.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection reports.
Record cargo deliveries.
Verify loads for accuracy.
