About The Position

This position is responsible for diagnosing, rebuilding, and repairing fleet equipment, including tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, and related parts. The role involves completing thorough documentation for work orders using the Enterprise Asset Management/AssetWorks system, diagnosing complex mechanical and electric problems with minimal supervision, and adhering to all company, local, state, and federal policies and regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and Reyes Fleet Management standards. The mechanic will also operate a company vehicle for roadside service calls, ensure equipment is roadworthy, and install/repair onboard computers and cameras.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/General Education Degree (GED with 3 plus years of related experience)
  • Must possess own tools
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations to operate applicable company vehicles
  • Ability to frequently lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 100 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Thermo King experience is a plus
  • Valid CDL (License A) is highly desired; mandatory in some locations
  • Technical School Certification

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, rebuild and repair fleet equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, and related parts)
  • Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management/AssetWorks system
  • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electric problems utilizing diagnostic technology/software when applicable
  • Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal polices and regulations including DOT, OSHA, and Reyes Fleet Management standards, while ensuring compliance with safety programs, correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practices
  • Operate a company vehicle to diagnose and repair equipment as part of roadside service calls
  • Ensure that equipment has the required licensing and registration before being deemed "roadworthy"
  • Install, replace, and repair onboard computers (XRS or XataNet) and/or cameras (DriveCam)
  • Other projects or duties as assigned
