About The Position

At GFL Environmental, our A-Level Mechanics are the technical heartbeat of our operations. We are looking for a Master Technician—someone who views a diagnostic challenge as a puzzle and takes pride in mentoring the next generation. You will utilize your expertise in Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) systems to ensure our fleet remains in safe, continuous "Road Ready" condition.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of heavy-duty Diesel and CNG maintenance experience.
  • Required: Brake Safety Certification and 609 A/C System Certification.
  • Expert ability to interpret intricate electrical and diagnostic schematics; high proficiency with diagnostic software and general computer literacy.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, or crawl for extended periods while performing repairs.
  • Sustained concentrated mental and visual attention for high-stakes diagnostics.
  • Ability to reach above shoulders, lift up to 50 lbs, and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Comfortable operating heavy trucks and equipment in a dynamic shop environment.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: ASE Certifications (T-Series).
  • Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred, or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Independently troubleshoot and repair complex Diesel and CNG engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
  • Act as the primary mentor for Level B and C mechanics, providing guidance on complex repairs and shop best practices.
  • Lead DOT and brake inspections to ensure every vehicle meets stringent safety and emissions standards.
  • Prioritize work orders to maximize shop efficiency and oversee mechanical write-ups to coordinate seamless repair schedules.
  • Complete digital work orders, order parts with precision, and maintain meticulous maintenance records daily.
  • Champion a "Safety First" culture, ensuring 100% compliance with OSHA, DOT, and GFL safety regulations.
