About The Position

Performance Foodservice is a broadline distributor serving local customers such as independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Its teams support customers with advice on operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies.

The CDL-A Driver drives a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and related products safely, on time, and in accordance with DOT regulations. Drivers interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers and help build lasting customer relationships. Routes may include team driving or overnight layovers. The schedule is five days per week, Monday through Saturday, with no Sundays; days off vary and flexibility is required. Dispatch is between midnight and 5 a.m.; shifts average 10 hours and include ramp work.

The position offers average yearly income of $80,000 or more and quarterly safety bonus opportunities. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available to candidates with verifiable one-year foodservice or beverage delivery experience. Employees who have worked for a PFG-owned company within the past six months are ineligible for that incentive.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid CDL-A.
• 12 months of commercial driving experience.
• Meet applicable state licensing and/or certification requirements.
• Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for the past three years.
• Pass a post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test.
• Have a current valid DOT Health Card or be able to obtain a new one.
• Able to hand-lift and use a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move or stack freight throughout the shift; products generally weigh 10–35 pounds and may weigh approximately 60–90 pounds, depending on the location.
• Must be flexible regarding varying days off; the five-day work week falls Monday through Saturday, with no Sundays.

Nice To Haves

• One year of touch-freight delivery experience.
• Verifiable one-year foodservice or beverage delivery experience qualifies for the stated $10,000 sign-on bonus, subject to the PFG eligibility restriction.

Responsibilities

• Complete required pre- and post-trip safety checks and inspect tractor/truck and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations and company standards; report safety issues and needed repairs.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines and policies, and immediately report safety hazards.
• Inspect freight to ensure it is properly loaded and secured; count items and verify customer invoices against loaded products.
• Complete required freight paperwork accurately and legibly; move the tractor to the loading dock and attach a preloaded trailer as needed.
• Keep the tractor, trailer, and freight locked and secured as appropriate throughout the delivery process.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring them to driver check-in, and complete the required end-of-shift paperwork and procedures.
• Unload equipment and materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
• Maintain daily records and comply with hours-of-service requirements and applicable DOT, state, and company policies.
• Handle freight in accordance with overall safety standards and proper handling guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards.
• Communicate and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers, answering questions accurately and in a timely manner.
