About The Position

The position is responsible for delivering materials to job site locations in the most efficient and safest manner. This includes oversight of maintenance for assigned trucks and working in the yard as needed.

Requirements

  • CDL Class B minimum
  • Forklift certification within 90 days of employment is required by employer.
  • Any combination of job-related experience and/or training which would produce the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to perform tasks accurately, effectively, and in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to multitask and possess good communication skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to work under time constraints.
  • Ability to interface with customers, suppliers, sub-contract crews, and personnel.
  • Ability to safely perform major job responsibilities with reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to lift at least 80lbs repeatedly.
  • Lifting anything over 100lbs requires additional personnel and utilizing a dolly or forklift if possible.

Responsibilities

  • Drive vehicles to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment (gas, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes) to ensure proper working condition and DOT compliance.
  • Load and unload trucks, and move materials within the yard or work site, or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or by yard truck.
  • Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
  • Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations.
  • Perform emergency repairs such as installing light bulbs, fuses, or tire chains.
  • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations.
  • Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries and fuel.
  • Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band them together using a banding machine and clincher.
  • Read work orders or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved.
  • Load materials onto vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
  • Comply with Astro policies and procedures.
