About The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver products loaded and secured by the warehouse in a safe and courteous manner. This position involves performing safety-affecting activities on a motor vehicle used in transportation on public highways in interstate commerce. Drivers are expected to be constantly vigilant to detect unexpected road conditions, distracted drivers, and motorists who don’t understand how commercial vehicles operate, and must operate in a safe manner in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations. Drivers may reasonably be expected to make an interstate journey during the regular course of employment. This role requires maintaining a valid and current CDL and Medical Card, reporting to work on time, completing assigned duties in a timely manner, and wearing proper uniforms and any required PPE such as steel-toe safety shoes. The driver will conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment, reporting any defects immediately. Compliance with all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) rules and regulations, including running a driver log on the PeopleNet ELD, is mandatory. The driver will utilize the company’s P.O.D. scanner for accurate deliveries and will unload product of various sizes and weights using a 2-wheel dolly and trailer ramp or other company-issued safety equipment. Accurate accounting of delivery paperwork, collection of cash and checks, and securing payments are also key responsibilities. Drivers receive coaching on unsafe driving habits using the Drive-Cam camera system and must ensure the safe operation and cleanliness of equipment. Overnight routes may be required at the discretion of Transportation Management. The role also involves enhancing and upholding the company’s reputation through courteous customer service and performing duties in a cooperative, capable manner, processing and communicating information effectively to the immediate supervisor. Personnel may be subject to cross-training into other jobs within the organization based on Company needs.

Requirements

  • Valid and current CDL
  • Valid and current Medical Card
  • Ability to operate in a safe manner in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations
  • Ability to conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle and equipment
  • Ability to comply with all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) rules and regulations
  • Ability to run a driver log on the PeopleNet ELD

  • Ensure the safe operation of equipment used and make sure that it is maintained and kept clean during use.
  • Take out overnight routes when necessary at Transportation Management’s discretion.
  • Enhance and uphold the company’s reputation by ensuring courteous customer service.
  • Perform duties in a cooperative, capable manner, processing information effectively and communicating information as needed effectively to the immediate supervisor.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Transportation Management.
  • Be subject to cross-training into jobs within the organization based on Company needs.
