About The Position

Airport Drayage Company Inc., (ADC) is a local airfreight pickup, transport, and delivery-company with a presence in the Pacific Northwest since 1959. Family owned and operated, ADC currently operating with approx. 60 employees, 50 Tractors/Straight trucks (NEWER AND WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLES!) with terminals in Portland, OR (Hq.) and Salem, OR. Job Purpose: Picks, transports and delivers palletized freight by operating a tractor-trailer and/or straight truck. An average day will normally require 2 to 10 stops depending upon distance between points. Shift: Starting time: 05:00-06:00 Monday thru Friday RETURN HOME DAILY

Requirements

  • Must be 23 years or older
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL
  • Must have Hazardous Materials endorsements
  • Must have a TWIC card
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug tests and DOT physical
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and move boxes up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to load/unload freight using a pallet jack or hand truck
  • Climb in and out of a vehicle and walk up and down stairs as required in all weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for multiple hours per day and work in a physically demanding environment
  • General knowledge of Oregon/Washington cities
  • Physical Ability to Utilize Hand-trucks and Pallet-jacks
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English
  • Commercial Driving: 1 year (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Determines condition of vehicle by conducting pre and post trips daily.
  • Ensures correct loading of vehicle.
  • Maintains safe vehicle operation and protects load by complying with organizational policies and procedures, highway rules and regulations.
  • Utilizes material handling equipment (pallet-jack, dolly and hand-truck) and uses blocking and bracing materials to secure cargo.
  • Maintains records by conscientious operation of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and Electronic DVIR, obtaining shipper and receiver authorizations and managing and notating other related paperwork.
  • Supports and contributes to the company's overall safety program.
  • Continually strives and is committed to self-improvement as a transportation professional.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing individual results as assigned and assists other drivers load or unload, if waiting in the warehouse.
