Class A CDL Driver - Thompson Falls, MT
About The Position
VCT is seeking safe and reliable Class A CDL truck drivers for their night shift fleet in the Thompson Falls, MT area. The primary responsibility is hauling wood residuals from Thompson Falls to Columbia Falls and Spokane, WA, and potentially other various mill sites in the area. Team members will be required to wear appropriate PPE and follow all site rules at customer locations. The role involves backing onto a tipper, unhooking the trailer, connecting the tractor and trailer once empty, scaling out, and departing the mill site. All dispatching is done via company radio. The listed duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL license
- Current DOT medical card
- Team player
- Safe and reliable
- Physically able to lift 100 lbs. occasionally
- Physically able to climb a ladder occasionally
- Willing and able to use tire chains as necessary/required
- Be physically able to open manual tarp systems using upper body strength
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
- Requires a person that needs minimal supervision and one that can think outside the box.
Responsibilities
- Perform DOT inspections to ensure that the equipment is safe to operate.
- Report any defects to the appropriate department.
- Follow direction from dispatch.
- Comply with ALL DOT regulations (i.e., weight restrictions, rest breaks, etc.).
- Report any violations or citations immediately.
