About The Position

Drive semi-local routes delivering retail merchandise to Meijer stores, with frequent home time and dedicated freight. Routes cover Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Michigan, primarily serving Chicago-area suburbs; deliveries do not include downtown Chicago. Routes may include Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, along with shuttle runs between distribution facilities in Lansing and Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Backhauls go to Lansing, Michigan. Approximately 85% of freight is drop-and-hook, and the freight is no-touch. Slip-seating is required only during mandatory vehicle maintenance. Trucks remain at the account during home time. Lunch is provided during orientation. Average annual earnings are $84,000, with the top 10% of drivers earning up to $90,000 annually. Compensation includes mileage pay of $0.63–$0.745 per mile, stop pay of $20–$30 per stop, backhaul pay of $30 per load, detention pay of $25 per hour, and a weekly salary of $100. The position offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus plan and additional pay for qualifying work, training, and holidays.

Requirements

Valid Class A CDL.
At least 9 months of verifiable Class A CDL experience.
Obtain a hazmat endorsement within 90 days of hire; reimbursement is available for the cost of obtaining the endorsement.
Ability to operate safely across Midwest routes.
Clean driving record.
DOT Medical card.
Able to work weekends.
Reliable and safety-focused.
Drivers with SAP status are not accepted.

Responsibilities

Deliver retail merchandise to Meijer stores.
