The position requires thorough pre-trip inspections, daily equipment checks, and safe operation of tractor-trailer equipment in various conditions and configurations. Responsibilities include dropping, hooking, spotting, and switching equipment, as well as managing cargo security and ensuring all necessary shipping documentation accompanies deliveries. Frequent communication with Dispatch/Operations is required via PeopleNet or phone to report movements, issues, or delays. Drivers must report all accidents, incidents, and moving violations, and maintain an electronic driver's log in compliance with FMCSA and company policies. Accurate completion of all necessary paperwork, including inspection reports, manifests, and trip reports, is essential. Verification of shipping documentation against load information and noting any discrepancies is also a key duty. The role may involve roadside inspections and working in adverse weather conditions. Drivers are expected to perform work in a timely manner to meet service schedules and maintain professional communication as a company representative.
