About The Position

The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and professional operation of Class A tractors, hauling heavy fleet assets, equipment, and materials to and from job sites, Service Centers, suppliers, and the Home Office. This role directly supports field production and logistics by transporting essential resources and ensuring equipment arrives safely, on time, and in proper working condition. In addition to driving responsibilities, this position performs operational support tasks similar to a Specialist Technician and Shop Assistant, including equipment loading/unloading, light preventive maintenance, minor repairs, shop organization, fabrication assistance, and general production support. This role requires strict adherence to DOT compliance, company safety policies, and high professional standards.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL license with acceptable MVR
  • Proven experience hauling heavy equipment or operating Class A tractors
  • Strong load‑securement knowledge and experience
  • Ability to perform light mechanical duties and follow instructions from Mechanics
  • Comfortable working in shop, yard, and job site environments
  • Able and willing to complete extended overnight and out‑of‑state travel
  • Able and willing to fly commercially for remote deployments or surge operations
  • Proficient using a smartphone for logs, photos, and communication
  • Fluent in spoken and written English due to DOT and safety requirements
  • Must pass: Illicit drug test
  • Must pass: DOT physical (if applicable)
  • Must pass: Criminal background check
  • Complies with company ethics, confidentiality requirements, and safety policies

Responsibilities

  • Safely operates Class A tractors and transports trailers, heavy equipment, and materials.
  • Completes extended long‑distance, multi‑state, and overnight trips as required by operations.
  • Utilizes proper load securement (chains, binders, straps) per DOT and company standards.
  • Performs required pre‑trip, en‑route, and post‑trip inspections of tractors, trailers, and loads.
  • Maintains accurate DOT logs, mileage records, inspection documents, and required trip reporting.
  • Transports fleet equipment between Service Centers, job sites, suppliers, and the Home Office.
  • Ensures all transported equipment is safe, functional, and properly documented.
  • Assists production teams during equipment staging, loading, unloading, and setup.
  • Performs light preventive maintenance (PM), including lubrication, filter checks, battery checks, and fluid inspections.
  • Assists with minor repairs.
  • Supports job site operations and service projects within skill level.
  • Helps with equipment placement, logistics, and operational tasks in the field.
  • Assists mechanics and shop personnel with equipment cleaning, fueling, washing, and prepping.
  • Helps organize tools, parts, attachments, and shop supplies.
  • Performs basic fabrication support (cutting, grinding, preparation work) under direction.
  • Assists with shop cleaning, inventory management, and facility organization.
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and related equipment are always clean, well‑maintained, and road‑ready.
  • Identifies mechanical issues early and reports promptly to Fleet Manager or Mechanics.
  • Assists with fueling, parking, staging, and moving fleet assets.
  • Follows all preventive maintenance schedules and inspection protocols.
  • Operates plow trucks, loaders, and specialized snow‑removal equipment.
  • Shovels snow and uses walk‑behind blowers safely and efficiently.
  • Applies salt and de‑icing materials accurately and responsibly.
  • Supports pre‑storm planning and operational staging.
  • Assists with post‑storm cleanup, equipment servicing, and restocking.
  • Maintains strict compliance with DOT, FMCSA regulations, and company safety standards.
  • Completes proper PPE use at all times and enforces safety expectations around others.
  • Immediately reports hazards, unsafe conditions, or equipment issues.
  • Strives for zero preventable accidents, both on the road and in the yard.
  • Professionally represents East Coast Facilities, Inc. at all times.
  • Communicates clearly with Fleet Manager, Field Supervisor, and site teams regarding load status and scheduling.
  • Maintains a positive, flexible, and responsive attitude during high‑demand periods.
  • Provides assistance during storm response, surge operations, and peak workloads.
