About The Position
InterChange Express, Inc. is seeking a Class A CDL Commercial Driver for local transportation operations based out of the Front Royal, VA – IPS Warehouse. The primary assignment will be to support local transportation operations, with most assigned duties involving 53’ dry van or reefer operations, as well as intermodal containers. The driver will be assigned to a regular shift and is expected to report for duty as assigned. This role requires flexibility and a willingness to take on a wide range of assignments while on duty. The company emphasizes safe operation, compliance with all regulations, and fostering positive relationships with customers and staff.
Requirements
- Minimum High School degree preferred.
- Must hold a current CDL-A.
- Must have a driving record acceptable to the company insurance carrier.
- Must hold a current Medical Examiners Certificate.
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds at shoulder height.
- Ability to read and write well enough to understand and complete required documentation, shipping forms, road signs, and other written communications.
- Ability to enter and exit truck cab safely and repeatedly during the work shift.
- Ability to crank landing gear, operate 5th wheel release, connect air/electrical lines without difficulty and repeatedly during work shifts.
- Ability to properly secure loads using provided straps and other equipment.
- Ability to repeatedly open & close trailer & shipping container doors throughout the workday (door weights may vary from 120 to 350lbs. each).

Responsibilities
- Safely operate assigned commercial motor vehicle in full compliance with all federal, state and local laws/regulations.
- Support local transportation operations based from the Front Royal/Winchester Area.
- Be flexible, open, and agreeable to a wide range of assignments while on-duty.
- Report for duty when/where assigned on a regular shift.
- Perform duties involving 53’ dry van or reefer operations, and intermodal containers.
- Communicate all issues related to the condition of company trucks and trailers to designated company staff.
- Ensure all equipment meets federal, state, or local standards before operation.
- Fill out, maintain, and submit all required paperwork, log books, and shipping documents accurately and on schedule.
- Adhere to and follow all federal, state, local, and company safety rules and regulations.
- Foster positive, appropriate, and productive relationships with all customers and members of the general public.
- Foster positive, appropriate, and productive relationships with all InterChange staff members and departments.
- Perform all assigned duties as safely, quickly, and efficiently as possible.
