About The Position
The Class 3 Advanced School Resource Officer is a sworn law enforcement officer with arrest powers who works within Beaufort County School District's elementary schools. This position will receive specialized training on how to work with youth. The work schedule will follow the same schedule as the administrative/teaching staff of the Beaufort County School District.
Requirements
- US Citizen
- 21 years of age minimum
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid S.C. driver's license (upon hiring)
- Registered S.C. voter (upon hiring)
- Resident of Beaufort County (upon hiring)
- Fluent in the oral and written communication of the English language
- Clean criminal record: No felony, serious misdemeanor or convictions of any crime of moral turpitude
- Good credit history
- Good driving record: no DUI or DUS convictions in the past five years
- Candidates who have been in the military must have received an Honorable Discharge
- Must successfully complete the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office physical agility course
- Must be able to complete training program to receive Advanced Class 3 certification, as well as training through the National Association of School Resource Officers
