About The Position

Arrow is an industry leading transportation, distribution and materials handling organization. We are looking for Class 1 Truck Drivers to join us and become part of our Portable Wood Processing Team in Kamloops, BC. As an Arrow driver, you will be hauling wood fibre locally in B train and walking floor trailers. Wood fibre is mainly comprised of grindings, but we also haul sawdust and hogfuel. You will travel to our bush grinder locations in and around Kamloops. Typically, work is within 2 hours of the local pulp mill.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement
  • Super B driving experience
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to operate manual transmission tractors
  • Proven ability to operate safely in snow and adverse weather, including chaining tires
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written) for safety documentation, reporting, and coordination with dispatch and site personnel
  • Ability to move 100 pounds, lift 50 lbs overhead and lift to shoulder height 75lbs
  • Ability to sit long duration
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle and trailer maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations.
  • Perform pre and post and en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions.
  • Record, Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading,) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, 2 way radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, dispatch, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Complete electronic logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status.
  • Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect.
