About The Position

In Business since 1919 and still growing, Arrow is a leader in bulk commodity hauling, reload operations, freight management, logistics, consulting, and technology with operations throughout Canada and the U.S. We are looking for professional Class 1 Truck Drivers to join us and become part of our Arrow family in Armstrong, BC. As an Arrow driver, you will haul wood fibre locally in B-train trailers, primarily transporting wood chips, as well as sawdust and hog fuel. Your travel will start in Armstrong and use various highways throughout the Interior of BC, including Hwy 1 (Coquihalla), Hwy 5, and Hwy 97.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement; B‑train experience required
  • Proven winter and mountain driving experience
  • Clean driver’s abstract and ability to pass pre‑employment drug test
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written) for safety, reporting, and coordination
  • Able to move up to 100 lbs; lift 50 lbs overhead and 75 lbs to shoulder height
  • Able to sit for extended periods
  • Computer literate with basic understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance
  • Dependable, accountable, and self‑directed; able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to follow direction and cross‑train across facility functions
  • Organized with strong time‑management skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations
  • Perform pre and post and en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions
  • Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics
  • Efficiently maneuver truck and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
  • May operate loading equipment as per role requirements
  • Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor
  • Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load, unload, yard and shop sites
  • Record, Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading,) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers
  • Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with the public, customers, and co-workers
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
  • Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure
  • Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements. Tarping loads may be a requirement
  • Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up
  • Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems
  • Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect
  • Train others when required
