About The Position

Smurfit Westrock is hiring a Clamp Truck Operator for its warehouse in Sioux City, Iowa. The role operates lift trucks to support corrugator production and material handling. The operator must pass a written and driving test to obtain an operator’s license, learn the controls of several trucks, and perform start-of-shift checks and daily preventive maintenance. Work includes keeping the corrugator stocked, maintaining an organized roll stock area and clean starch area, unloading highway vans, and assisting the corrugator crew and its hogging duties. Operators may also retrieve spilled stock from the floor and change LPG fuel tanks. The position requires frequent lift-truck operation, including reversing, turning to monitor traffic, looking up to place stock or read labels, and judging distances to move and stack materials safely. Operators may need to mount and dismount the truck, handle pallets and sheets, and perform other tasks related to machine operation. Employees may be reassigned by the shift supervisor to other duties or plant cleanup as needed, including sweeping, painting, mopping, snow removal, ladder climbing, and cleaning debris from the cyclone area in varying weather conditions. The job involves production-floor safety requirements, including required personal protective equipment. Eye and hearing protection are required on the production room floor, and Kevlar gloves are required where there is a cut hazard. Employees must wear a red S.A.F.E. hat or visor on the production room floor during their probationary period. Candidates must undergo drug screening after receiving a conditional offer and before starting employment.
