About The Position

The Claims Technician is responsible for processing and managing insurance claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations. This role involves investigating claims, determining coverage, negotiating settlements, and maintaining detailed records. The Claims Technician will work within the Risk Management department to support the organization's overall claims handling process.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of the full seven-year work history, including periods of unemployment, in the 'Experience and Credential' section of the application.
Proficiency in claims processing software and general office applications.
Strong understanding of insurance policies and claims procedures.
Excellent investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.

Nice To Haves

Experience in risk management.
Relevant insurance certifications (e.g., AIC, CPCU).

Responsibilities

Process and manage insurance claims from initiation to closure.
Investigate claims by gathering information, interviewing parties involved, and reviewing documentation.
Determine coverage based on policy terms and conditions.
Negotiate settlements with claimants and/or their representatives.
Maintain accurate and detailed claim files and records.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Communicate effectively with claimants, legal counsel, and other stakeholders.
Assist in the development and implementation of claims handling procedures.
Prepare reports on claim status and outcomes.
