About The Position

MSIG USA is seeking a Claims Supervisor for its Workers Compensation unit. This role provides overall management and technical supervision on selected claims, including severity claims and those assigned to WC claims professionals within the Toyota & MTMUS WC units. The supervisor is responsible for implementing and practicing claim handling guidelines and directives to ensure regulatory and company compliance, as well as managing customer relationships for retention. The position involves providing updated legal and claim standard practices to claims staff, offering supervision on WC claims, ensuring coverage analysis and decisions are appropriate, and maintaining adequate case reserves. The Claims Supervisor will also directly handle complex WC claims during high volume periods and assist in ensuring staff compliance with policies and procedures. This role participates in education and orientation programs, including developing training materials and providing education and mentoring to assigned WC Claim offices. Maintaining good rapport with Japanese Marketing staff and MSMM Underwriting units is crucial. The supervisor will participate in WC Claim Review & Stewardship Meetings and assist in reviewing WC Claim Summaries. Proficiency in MSMM Risk Console RMIS Tool, CRS, and Tableau is required (training will be provided). The role includes directing, guiding, and developing staff through ongoing performance feedback and coaching. Special projects and assignments may also be required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • 6-10 years of previous WC claims experience, including Complex claims experience.
  • 2+ years at a management / supervisory experience required

Responsibilities

  • Provides claims staff involved with the Toyota & MTMUS WC Programs with updated legal and claim standard practices.
  • Offers supervision management on WC claims that are assigned for direct handling at TMMI, TMMMO and other Toyota Claims offices as assigned.
  • Ensures coverage, analysis, and decisions regarding the extension or denial of insurance coverage are appropriately evaluated and communicated to policyholders.
  • Ensures that case reserves on assigned oversight cases are maintained at an adequate level that is reflective of what the company may pay in indemnity or loss adjustment expense.
  • Direct handles Complex WC claims during periods of high claim volume and is supervised by the WC Claims VP.
  • Assists in ensuring staff compliance with claim policies, claim manuals and procedures, Special Claim Handling Instructions, and litigation management and claim handling procedures.
  • Participates in education and orientation programs, including the development of claim training material.
  • Includes providing education and mentoring support to the respective Toyota & MTMUS WC Claim offices as assigned.
  • Maintains a good rapport and business relationship with Japanese Marketing staff and MSMM Underwriting units to ensure harmony and understanding between the WC unit and other disciplines.
  • Participates in respective WC Claim Review & Stewardship Meetings as assigned with the respective Toyota/MTMUS Plants, TMNA & Aon LA.
  • Assists in reviewing WC Claim Summaries for content and plan of action appropriateness prior to scheduled WC Claim Review Meetings.
  • Is proficient in using MSMM Risk Console RMIS Tool, CRS, and Tableau (MSMM will provide training).
  • Direct, guide, and develop staff, by providing ongoing performance feedback and coaching to maximize individual contributions to achieve desired business results within the department and company.
  • Participates in special projects and assignments as required.
