About The Position

This is a training program designed to equip individuals with the fundamental policies, practices, procedures, and strategies necessary to become a Claims Representative. The program focuses on training participants to handle low to moderately complex claims promptly, proactively, and with a sense of urgency. Work is performed under the guidance and supervision of a trainer, and trainees are required to pass exams at specific stages. Successful completion of the training program may lead to placement in a Claims Representative role with an equivalent salary grade.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must obtain adjusters license in states where required.

Nice To Haves

Bachelors degree preferred.
Some experience in insurance or a related field preferred.
Claims experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Participate in a training program to learn basic policies, practices, procedures, and strategies for handling claims.
Handle low to moderately complex claims promptly, proactively, and with a sense of urgency under supervision.
Conduct thorough investigations.
Establish damages.
Determine liability.
Negotiate settlements.
Make claim payments.
Confirm policy coverage.
Explain claim determination to parties involved.
Work in electronic claim files to handle assigned claims within designated authority.
Manage diaries and update claim files.
Move claim files to closure according to established procedures.
Inspect vehicles and property to assess claim-related damage.
Estimate repair or replacement costs.
Determine and report on subrogation potential.
Report theft, fraud, and arson losses as required by regulations.
Interact professionally and courteously with stakeholders including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair facilities, contractors, police and fire departments, state and country fraud and arson specialists, special investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other persons incident to the investigation and processing of claims.
Act as a representative of the company.
Seek to grow job knowledge and incorporate new information into daily tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
