About The Position

The Claims Property Field Catastrophe (CAT) Representative is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and negotiating the settlement of assigned property claims, with a focus on serving customers and ensuring quality file handling. This role requires responding on short notice and for extended periods to CAT deployment directives, which may include weekends, and traveling to catastrophe areas to assess and settle personal and commercial property claims resulting from natural disasters. Key duties involve performing onsite and virtual inspections, resolving complex coverage and damage issues, preparing complete estimates of repair, and thoroughly documenting all claim activity, including collaboration with SIU and Subrogation partners. The representative is expected to achieve high policyholder satisfaction by adhering to service standards, explaining coverage, assisting with damage itemization, emergency repairs, and living arrangements, and coordinating with various vendor services like contractors and experts. The role also entails responding to inquiries from policyholders, agents, and internal partners, contributing to a positive work environment, mentoring team members, and providing technical support to the Catastrophe Claims team. During non-catastrophe periods, the representative will assist with complex personal and commercial lines claims. The position requires operating and maintaining a company vehicle and involves significant physical demands, including climbing ladders, lifting up to 40 lbs, walking on roofs, and entering tight spaces. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years field property claims handling experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Proficient with personal computer
  • Proficient in property estimating and damages
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and agents in a professional manner
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Ability to travel upon immediate notice
  • State specific adjusters’ license may be required
  • Must be located in Cleveland, Ohio or surrounding area
  • Ability to access and inspect all areas of a building or structure
  • Ability to carry, set up and climb a ladder
  • Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to walk on roofs
  • Ability to enter tight spaces (such as attic staircases and entries, crawl spaces, etc.)
  • Requires extensive overnight travel +50% of time

Responsibilities

  • Responds on short notice and for extended periods to CAT deployment directive which may include weekends.
  • Travels to catastrophe areas to evaluate, negotiate and settle personal and commercial property claims resulting from natural disasters in various geographic locations.
  • Perform onsite and virtual inspection of damages to resolve coverage and damage issues to include preparing complete estimates of repair for the covered damages.
  • Pursuant to line of business strategies and good faith claim practices: document all claim activity to support the claim file, including working with SIU and Subrogation partners.
  • Create a high level of policyholder satisfaction by complying with established service standards.
  • Investigate and evaluate onsite to resolve complex coverage and damage issues to include preparing complete estimates of repair for the covered damages.
  • Explain coverage of loss, assists policyholders with itemization of damages, emergency repairs and additional living arrangements.
  • Works with and may coordinate a number of vendor services such as contractors, emergency repair, cleaning services and experts.
  • Responds to inquiries from policyholders, agents, internal partners and others.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by positively influencing others, striving for high performance results with a "can do" attitude.

  • Mentor members of Inside and Field Property Team and Expandable CAT Team.
  • During periods of non-Catastrophe, provide assistance with complex losses as needed, to include both personal lines and commercial lines claims.
  • Provide technical support to the Catastrophe Claims team members with regards to Property claims handling, claim handling time management, and claim skill development.
  • Operates and maintains company vehicle.
