About The Position

GAINSCO is seeking a driven and enthusiastic Claims Manager, Liability to lead a team of Team Leaders and oversee intermediate complexity coverage and liability investigations. This role combines leadership, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making to ensure accurate, timely claim handling and compliance with company and state standards. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Active Texas or Florida Adjuster License required upon hire; additional licenses may be required and must be obtained and maintained.
  • Minimum 2–3 years as a Claims Supervisor or Team Leader with direct people management responsibilities in Auto Liability claims.
  • Direct experience managing Liability coverage issues within the Auto Claims department.
  • Insurance background required.
  • Knowledge of Image Right and Claims Manager systems.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to monitor and assess performance.
  • Efficient time management for self and others.
  • Objective judgment and critical decision-making abilities.
  • Logical and reasoning skills to identify approaches and solutions to problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a second-line leader or managing supervisors/team leaders is preferred.
  • Non-standard auto insurance experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of 4–6 Team Leaders and their direct reports.
  • Drive employee engagement and foster a positive, high-performance culture.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training for new team members.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to develop leadership and technical skills.
  • Monitor claim handling for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with state regulations.
  • Review and audit claims using a holistic approach.
  • Resolve escalated coverage and liability issues that cannot be handled by Team Leaders.
  • Provide reporting and insights to senior management.
  • Lead or assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance claims operations and customer experience.
