About The Position

Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions is hiring a Claims Consultant for its U.S. Life Sciences team. The role is based in a New York City, Chicago, Plymouth, Denver, or Irvine office and follows a hybrid schedule. The consultant independently manages complex, high-exposure Life Sciences claims, applying technical expertise in product liability, E&O and professional liability, specialty coverage analysis, and litigation management. The role calls for sound judgment and the ability to develop and execute claim strategies with limited supervision. Claims may involve pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostic, and Life Sciences service-provider matters, including clinical trials, research, data management, regulatory compliance, and other professional services. The consultant evaluates liability, damages, causation, coverage, and settlement opportunities; manages litigation and external resources; and works with internal and external stakeholders. The position also provides technical guidance to less experienced claims professionals. The role requires a Juris Doctor and at least seven years of specialized claims-handling experience, including significant experience with complex Life Sciences claims. The typical base salary range is $123,000–$163,000. For candidates located in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Massachusetts-based offices, or the New York City metro area, the range is $143,000–$167,000. Full-time employees are eligible for bonus potential and benefits.
