As an Assistant Manager of BI, you will coach, lead, engage and motivate a team of bodily injury claims adjusters to ensure quality performance, development, policy adherence, cost containment, compliance to state regulations, and excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in bodily injury claims management
  • Proven experience in managing bodily injury claims.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of insurance laws and regulations.
  • Effective and efficient use of computer applications including MS Office products
  • Excellent organizational skills and written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented, and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be licensed and bondable

  • Familiarity of public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise adjusters handling bodily injury claims. There may be some claims with serious injuries and high exposures, depending on the experience level of the adjusters, with some litigated files as development opportunity.
  • Guide and support adjusters in the early stages of claim assessment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate liability and coverage investigations
  • Implement strategies to expedite claim resolution and attempt early claims resolution (ECR).
  • Monitor claim progress to ensure adherence to company policies and timelines.
  • Develop and implement strategies to expedite the resolution of complex claims, focusing on reducing cycle time and improving outcomes.
  • Provide training and mentorship to adjusters to enhance their negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Assist adjusters with daily questions, claim file management, client correspondence, and escalated calls.
  • Prepare reports and updates for senior management on claim statuses and outcomes.
  • Monitor and regulate adjuster workloads.
  • Monitor and report on team and key department performance metrics.
  • Perform file audits and phone observations.
  • Review and edit coverage letters.
  • Review and approve reserve/payment requests over adjuster authority levels.
  • Conduct staff meetings.
  • Provide continuous coaching through feedback and development opportunities.
  • Complete performance reviews for adjusters.
  • Lead or assist with department initiatives and special projects.
  • Interview, hire, and train new adjusters.
