About The Position

Kin is seeking a Claims Adjuster with first-party property claims experience to join our growing team. Because we tackle insurance differently, we want you to draw on your expertise in property claims while helping us to continue to innovate on behalf of Kin’s customers and our stakeholders. As a Claims Adjuster, you will guide customers through the claims process with empathy and clarity, helping them navigate property damage situations with confidence. You will investigate and manage claims from a variety of perils efficiently and thoroughly to ensure timely, fair resolutions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of first-party residential property claims adjusting working directly for an insurance carrier
  • An active, valid Adjusters License in your current state of residence
  • Knowledge and experience in California claim handling
  • Strong understanding of Florida insurance laws and good faith claims handling
  • Capability to work through daily & catastrophe claims in high-risk states
  • Experience with vendor management and negotiations
  • Comfortable utilizing various claims systems (i.e. Xactimate, XactAnalysis, Symbility, EagleView)
  • Bilingual capability is a plus (spanish-speaking)
  • Catastrophe Event: you have the ability to work mandatory overtime as needed in the event of high claim volume due to a catastrophic event.

Responsibilities

  • Examining and appropriately interpreting insureds’ policies, forms in force, and other records to determine coverage and extent of company’s liability
  • Keeping active communication with customers throughout the Claims process
  • Drafting, approving, and adjusting estimates of damage and loss amounts
  • Using varying methods of investigation, including taking recorded statements, consulting with police, inspecting property damage, and reviewing documentation
  • Partner with field appraisers to manage home estimates/repairs
  • Estimating cost of repair, replacement, or compensation
  • Writing clear, concise diary notes in addition to setting field assignments, saving contacts, and issuing payments
  • Appropriately applying knowledge of multiple state statutes, including the insurance code of ethics, rules, regulations, and guidelines
