About The Position

The claim adjuster I will complete required training and education activities in preparation for a career as a claim professional; provide assistance in accordance with supervisor instructions; and provide prompt, courteous and fair claim service. This role supports the corporate strategy of our commitment to the member relationship and the strategic mission of the Claims function as it relates to goals for the organization. The individual will learn about and exhibit the Guiding Principles in their daily work and develop and maintain relationships with the agency force, supporting them through sound and effective claim management practices. All claims will be handled in accordance with the provisions of the Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act and in an ethical and compliant manner. The role requires satisfactory completion or progress towards completion of the KFB training plan and required Kentucky Farm Bureau-sponsored courses. Responsibilities include reviewing loss reports, confirming coverages, conducting prompt and thorough investigations, maintaining and documenting electronic claim files, maintaining adequate reserves and active diaries, completing assignments, and promptly evaluating and resolving claims through settlement or denial. The position involves regular visits to agency offices, actively pursuing salvage recovery, assisting the subrogation and special investigative units, reporting claims in accordance with guidelines, assigning and monitoring out-of-state claims, and developing knowledge of policy contracts, court decisions, and industry trends. Claims must be handled in compliance with statutes, regulations, and case law. The role requires the ability to function as an adjuster trainee, serve as a catastrophe team member or assist in other claim offices as requested, and maintain regular, predictable attendance. Additional responsibilities include promptly reporting complaints and responding as directed, immediately reporting receipt of all summonses, reporting incorrectly rated policies or poor risks to Underwriting with supervisor assistance, submitting timely and accurate expense and mileage reports, attending company claim meetings and continuing education activities, and maintaining and properly using company facilities, equipment, supplies, and vehicles, including following guidelines for personal use of company vehicles.

Requirements

  • A combination of formal education, training, and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by a four-year college graduate.
  • Ability to interpret policy contracts and legal documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make timely decisions.
  • Good negotiation and public relations skills.
  • Obtain a Kentucky Staff Adjuster License within six months of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

  • Assign, direct, and actively monitor out-of-state claims.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of policy contracts, court decisions, and industry trends.
  • Handle claims in compliance with statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Complete assignments.

  • Follow company guidelines related to personal use of company vehicles.
