The claim adjuster I will complete required training and education activities in preparation for a career as a claim professional; provide assistance in accordance with supervisor instructions; and provide prompt, courteous and fair claim service. This role supports the corporate strategy of our commitment to the member relationship and the strategic mission of the Claims function as it relates to goals for the organization. The individual will learn about and exhibit the Guiding Principles in their daily work, and develop and maintain relationships with the agency force, supporting them through sound and effective claim management practices. All claims will be handled in accordance with the provisions of the Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act and in an ethical and compliant manner. The role requires satisfactory completion or progress towards completion of the KFB training plan and required Kentucky Farm Bureau sponsored courses. Responsibilities include reviewing loss reports, confirming coverages, conducting prompt and thorough investigations of losses, and maintaining and thoroughly documenting electronic claim files. The adjuster will maintain adequate reserves and active diaries on all files, complete assignments, and promptly evaluate and resolve claims through settlement or denial. Regular visits to agency offices are expected, along with actively pursuing salvage recovery and assisting the subrogation and special investigative units. Claims will be reported in accordance with guidelines or supervisory requests, and out-of-state claims will be assigned, directed, and monitored. The role involves developing and maintaining knowledge of policy contracts, court decisions, and industry trends, and handling claims in compliance with statutes, regulations, and case law. The adjuster must maintain the ability to function as an adjuster trainee and serve as a catastrophe team member or assist in other claim offices or locations as requested, while ensuring regular, predictable attendance. Additional responsibilities include promptly reporting complaints and responding as directed, reporting the immediate receipt of all summonses, and reporting incorrectly rated policies or poor risks to PARM (Underwriting) with supervisory assistance. Timely and accurate expense and mileage reports must be submitted. The role requires attendance and participation in company claim meetings, seminars, and continuing education activities, as well as maintaining and properly using company facilities, equipment, supplies, and vehicles, and following company guidelines related to personal use of company vehicles.
