About The Position

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for Civilian Uniformed Personnel (CUPS). This role involves performing duties that relieve police officers from street duty, either in a mobile or static security position. The position provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland and ensures compliance with MTA policies. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply. Requirements

Must be 18 years of age.
Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency certificate.
Able to work 40 hours per week.
Able to work variable shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends based on the needs of the Maryland Transit Administration.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Responsibilities

Perform assigned duties to relieve a police officer from street duty.
Perform fare inspection and enforcement services to ensure patron compliance with the MTA's self-service fare policy on the MTA Light Rail system.
Inspect and verify the validity of tickets and/or passes on a daily basis.
Prepare detailed reports and other documents as assigned.
Provide information to patrons regarding Light Rail services.
Coordinate activities with related MTA Police or other MTA Operations personnel.
Assist in special assignments such as the Transit Ambassador Program and/or other operations or police activities.
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
Maintain visibility among patrons and employees to preserve order and protect property.
Answer telephone calls and provide information during non-business hours or when the switchboard is closed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Adhere to all safety rules, policies, regulations, and personal protective equipment requirements.
Participate in safety meetings.
Report hazards, unsafe acts, near misses, injuries, and accidents immediately to the Office of Safety and supervision.
Refrain from willful violations of safety rules and procedures, reckless and negligent behavior, involvement in criminal activities, and the misuse of drugs or alcohol.
