About The Position

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is seeking an Entry-Level Civil/ Waterfront Engineer for their Amesbury, Massachusetts office. The role requires a strong academic record, a solid understanding of civil engineering fundamentals, and a desire to work on diverse projects including coastal, infrastructure, real estate/building development, and energy. The position involves both office and field work, with opportunities for professional growth through mentorship and collaboration. Responsibilities include preparing documentation, evaluating data, performing analyses, writing reports, and implementing new technology.

Requirements

• BS degree in Civil Engineering (MS Degree is a plus).
• 1+ years of professional work experience is preferred.
• Effective communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
• Ability to work locally and regionally.
• Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing and have a consistent means of transportation to/from project sites.
• EIT certificate or ability to obtain within a year.
• Desire to obtain Professional Engineer registration.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with numerical modeling, AutoCad and GIS preferred.
• Familiarity with coastal processes and small boat operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Executing subsurface exploration and in-situ testing programs to evaluate soil and bedrock conditions
• Performing field construction observation during installation of soft (nature-based) and hard shoreline protection/stabilization measures and other coastal projects, shallow and deep foundation installation and testing, environmental sampling and monitoring, and other diverse projects.
• Assisting with topographic and bathymetric survey as well as condition assessment of waterfront structures.
• Evaluating field data and performing engineering analyses/calculations.
• Writing field summary reports, drafts of field and engineering reports, technical specifications, and other technical documents.
• Preparing construction cost/quantity estimates.
• Assisting with submittal reviews and requests for information during construction.
• Communicating effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients, and team members.
