About The Position

The Civil Superintendent provides field leadership for assigned Timberline Construction Group heavy civil and site development projects, with a focus on underground utilities, including water, sewer, storm, drainage, and related site work. Working closely with the Project Manager from preconstruction through closeout, this position leads day-to-day field execution, coordinates crews and subcontractors, maintains production and schedule expectations, and helps ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of civil construction, site development, underground utilities, construction assemblies, and field sequencing.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise crews and subcontractors and drive production toward project goals and specifications.
  • Ability to analyze construction documents, resolve field issues, and communicate technical information clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • 5-10 years of civil construction experience required, with substantial field leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience with underground utilities and site development required.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

  • Experience with HCSS HeavyJob and Bluebeam preferred
  • AutoCAD familiarity is a plus
  • Working knowledge of municipal utility requirements, inspections, permitting, and project coordination preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Project Management during preconstruction to review plans, specifications, phasing, logistics, schedules, and constructability.
  • Lead and coordinate daily field operations, including company crews, subcontractors, vendors, equipment, and material deliveries.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and specifications and communicate field requirements clearly to the project team.
  • Oversee underground utility installation and full-site development activities while maintaining production, schedule, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Identify constructability issues, conflicts, and field conditions early and work with the Project Manager, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to resolve them.
  • Support RFIs, submittals, change order documentation, daily reports, time sheets, quantity tracking, and other project documentation.
  • Verify work-in-place quantities and field progress to support owner billing, subcontractor/vendor billing, cost tracking, and monthly reporting.
  • Monitor project milestones and communicate schedule risks, manpower needs, material issues, and production concerns to Project Management.
  • Assist with closeout activities, punch lists, as-built information, and turnover documentation.
  • Mentor less experienced field team members and reinforce accountability, communication, and consistent field procedures.
  • Maintain productive relationships with owners, inspectors, engineers, municipal representatives, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to value-engineering discussions and identify practical field solutions that improve constructability, productivity, or cost performance.
