About The Position

An established general contractor is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent / Foreman to lead field operations on infrastructure and civil construction projects in Ketchikan, Alaska. This is a hands-on field leadership position for someone who can effectively manage crews, subcontractors, production, safety, and daily execution while coordinating closely with project management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of construction experience, preferably with a commercial, civil, or infrastructure general contractor.
  • Strong field experience with civil construction, earthwork, utilities, sitework, concrete, or similar infrastructure scopes.
  • Previous experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, or comparable field leader.
  • Experience directly supervising crews and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of self-perform production, manpower planning, and field productivity.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and other construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and short-term planning.
  • Ability to develop and execute detailed work plans.
  • Comfortable using scheduling, PDF markup, and project-management software.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a safety-first approach.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day field operations for civil and infrastructure construction projects.
  • Supervise self-perform crews, subcontractors, equipment, deliveries, and overall site activities.
  • Track labor hours, manpower, production rates, and percentage complete for self-performed work.
  • Develop and maintain short-interval schedules and coordinate upcoming field activities.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings to identify conflicts before they impact construction.
  • Prepare RFIs and coordinate solutions with Project Managers, engineers, and design teams.
  • Lead subcontractor coordination and ensure trades are properly sequenced.
  • Develop work plans around safety, quality, productivity, manpower, and equipment needs.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and developing field crews.
  • Lead toolbox talks and maintain a strong jobsite safety culture.
  • Monitor field productivity and identify opportunities to improve production methods and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate daily reporting covering manpower, production, progress, and field conditions.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers to keep schedule, cost, and field execution aligned.
  • Lead punch list and field closeout activities.
