About The Position

The Civil / Structural Engineer will support FAA facility modernization projects across the Central Service Area. The role involves planning, designing, and delivering civil and structural upgrades in coordination with engineering teams and FAA stakeholders. Projects may include foundations, roofing, shelters, mechanical installations, parking, and security systems. The position is based in Des Plaines, Illinois, and requires 30% travel.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• At least 3 years of structural design experience involving steel, concrete, and foundations.
• Knowledge of building structural codes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation and strong MS Office skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
• Ability to obtain FAA Public Trust; must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder with 3 years of residency.
• Pre-employment drug test required.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with NEC and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop project scopes, plans, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Create AutoCAD drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Conduct on-site surveys and produce accurate, to-scale designs.
• Support structural evaluations and facility upgrades involving foundations, roofing, shelters, mechanical installations, parking, and security systems.
• Participate in construction and design reviews, risk management, and stakeholder meetings.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts and track project progress.
