About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is a leading Canadian nuclear engineering group with over 60 years of experience in the nuclear industry. We are seeking an Intermediate Civil/Structural Engineer to perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management. This role involves preparing engineering design calculations for structural systems (steel, reinforced concrete, masonry), creating design documents, and compiling engineering packages. You will analyze structural systems using software like ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, and SSASI, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations. The position requires accountability for delivering engineering tasks within project timelines and budgets, providing technical guidance to junior staff, and reviewing the work of others for accuracy and quality. Participation in formal engineering reviews and plant walkdowns may also be required.

Requirements

Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University.
Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings.
Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
Experience with static, dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree and above.
Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
3 to 5 years of site or field experience in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings.
Knowledge of modification process of Nuclear Power Plant; ECC process or similar.
Adequate knowledge of established Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures.
Knowledge of applicable nuclear safety codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management.
Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry.
Prepare design documents and compile engineering packages.
Analyze structural systems and elements using Analysis Software programs (ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, etc.).
Ensure compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations.
Ensure the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans.
Accountable for the delivery of all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.
Provide technical instructions to Junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation.
Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews.
Perform plant walkdowns as and if required in support of design requirements definition and detailed engineering of design modifications.
