About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Intermediate Civil/Structural Engineer to join their team. This role involves performing structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management for nuclear power plants and industrial buildings. The engineer will prepare design calculations, design documents, and engineering packages, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and regulations. Responsibilities include analyzing structural systems using software like ANSYS, SAP2000, and STAAD Pro, providing technical guidance to junior staff, reviewing the work of others, and participating in design reviews. The role may also involve plant walkdowns to support design requirements and detailed engineering.

Requirements

  • Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University.
  • Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings.
  • Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
  • Experience with static, dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree and above.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • 3 to 5 years of site or field experience in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings.
  • Knowledge of modification process of Nuclear Power Plant; ECC process or similar.
  • Adequate knowledge of established Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable nuclear safety codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry.
  • Prepare design documents and compile engineering packages.
  • Analyze structural systems and elements using Analysis Software programs (ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations.
  • Ensure the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans.
  • Deliver engineering deliverables/tasks to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Provide technical instructions to Junior staff or designers.
  • Review and comment on the work performed by others.
  • Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews.
  • Perform plant walkdowns as and if required.
