Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing complex engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. This role provides civil/structural engineering support for substation capital projects, performing mathematical calculations for sizing and design of oil containment systems, runoff/drainage calculations for stormwater conveyance/retention systems, and calculations for analysis and design of substation structures, foundations, and rigid-bus. It also involves sag-tension calculations for strain bus design, and proficiency in structural analysis software is preferred. The position requires completing grounding, lightning shielding, and lighting studies, preparing station configuration and layouts, and working with project planners to develop substation solutions. Additionally, it involves developing station project functional and detail scoping documents, assisting project managers with schedule development, overseeing work by internal designers or consulting firms, and providing support to construction personnel to resolve issues during the construction phase. Collaboration with various departments throughout the project lifecycle is also a key aspect.
