About The Position

Frontier-Kemper, a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our office in Evansville, IN. Frontier-Kemper specializes in heavy civil construction and underground mine development, known for expertise in deep shafts and tunnels. The FKC-Lake Shore division offers design/build/install services for hoisting and vertical conveyance systems. The company aims to be the industry’s best source for turn-key construction, engineering, and design-build services. Notable clients include major transportation authorities, public works authorities, federal agencies, and mining clients. This role is integral to the Engineering Division, working on mining, heavy civil construction, and hoisting equipment projects. Design work includes construction plan preparation, hoisting equipment design, mining shaft and slope design, and construction support. The Civil Engineering team is a multi-disciplinary unit providing design, analysis, and consulting services internally and externally. The engineer will interact with peers, consultants, vendors, and clients.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• A minimum of 3 - 10 years of work experience, preferably in a field related to underground construction and/or mining.
• A licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or able to register as a licensed P.E. within 2 years.
• Experience in design of reinforced concrete structures and steel structures.
• Proficient in preparation of structural calculations utilizing structural analysis software and hand calculations.
• Demonstrated logical problem-solving skills, including conceptual and analytical skills.
• Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and database software.

Nice To Haves

• Geotechnical engineering and/or support of excavation (SOE) design experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor software is desired.
• Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis software would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Design civil/structural systems, structures and components.
• Assist with modifications to existing equipment, systems, structures and components.
• Provide technical support to the Civil, Mining and FKC – Lake Shore Divisions.
• Assist with project planning and technical quotes for systems, structures and components.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards related to civil/structural systems, structures and components.
• Assist in responding to site-based requests for information, including analysis and recommendations.
• Prepare and present project documents including calculations, drawings, specifications and reports.
• Travel to site, as needed.
