About The Position

The Foreman plays a critical leadership role in the successful execution of construction projects in the field. This position serves as a key support partner to the Superintendent and is responsible for helping lead day-to-day operations on active jobsites. The Foreman provides direction to operators and laborers, maintains a strong focus on safety and quality control, and helps ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and according to SCG standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who understands site operations, construction sequencing, grading, and equipment utilization, while also being comfortable stepping into operational tasks alongside the crew when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum OSHA 30 Certification required
  • Ability to pass post-offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing in accordance with SCG Fields’ drug-free workplace policy.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift materials or equipment as needed.
  • Must be comfortable performing physical labor alongside field crews.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively; per diem provided.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in heavy civil, athletic field construction, grading, landscaping, or related construction environments preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and field layout
  • Knowledge of grading operations, elevations, and site preparation
  • Experience working with lasers, transits, GPS systems, and other construction technology tools
  • Ability to lead crews while maintaining accountability, professionalism, and team morale
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to adapt in fast-paced field environments and support changing project needs
  • Willingness to travel as project assignments require

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate as a member of a Project Team dedicated to delivering the SCG Experience
  • Support the Superintendent with daily field operations and project execution
  • Lead operators and laborers in the Superintendent’s absence
  • Analyze and interpret project drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Assist with scheduling daily tasks, coordinating labor resources, and organizing field activities
  • Maintain a strong focus on efficiency, organization, and productivity across the jobsite
  • Oversee and lead small crews to complete project tasks safely and effectively
  • Monitor workmanship to ensure projects adhere to SCG quality standards, plans, and specifications
  • Enforce all company safety procedures and promote a strong safety-first culture on site
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or work practices are identified
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners throughout the construction process
  • Assist in allocating labor, equipment, and materials to support project success
  • Support grading and layout operations, including operation and setup of lasers, transits, GPS systems, and related equipment
  • Maintain a general understanding of construction equipment, tools, and site operations
  • Assist with project reporting and documentation, including: Employee time entry, Equipment maintenance reports, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Daily jobsite photos and updates
  • Training and onboarding support for new hires
  • Enforce proper equipment usage and preventative maintenance practices
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent, Supervisor, or Construction Manager
  • Work alongside crew members in operational and manual labor tasks as needed to support successful project completion
  • Other duties as assigned
