About The Position

Benesch is seeking a Civil Site Designer II to join our growing Civil Site and Land Development team in Franklin or Nashville, Tennessee. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and delivery of civil site and land development projects while working alongside experienced engineers, designers, and project managers. You will have the opportunity to build your technical expertise, contribute to a variety of projects, and take on increasing responsibility as you grow your career with Benesch. The ideal candidate is a motivated civil designer who enjoys solving problems, working collaboratively, and developing practical design solutions. Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in civil site design, land development, municipal engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, or erosion control.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Understanding of civil design principles, applicable codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience preparing civil construction documents and technical plans.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans, drawings, specifications, and technical information.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Nice To Haves

  • E.I.T. certification or progress toward professional licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop civil site and land development plans under the direction of project engineers and project managers.
  • Assist with site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility design, erosion control, and related civil design activities.
  • Prepare plans, profiles, details, exhibits, technical documentation, and supporting calculations.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop and produce civil design plans and construction documents.
  • Assist with the development of grading plans, utility plans, drainage plans, and other project deliverables.
  • Review plans and design work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, surveyors, architects, and other disciplines.
  • Assist with addressing technical questions and design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in project meetings and site visits as needed.
  • Apply applicable design standards, codes, and regulations to project assignments.
  • Manage assigned tasks and deliverables to meet project schedules and quality expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with team members while developing greater independence and technical responsibility.
  • Support junior team members and share knowledge as technical experience develops.
