About The Position

Parsons has an exciting job opportunity for a Civil Roadway Engineer I to join the growing transportation infrastructure team at our Corona, California office. In this role, you will be engaged in design engineering work and contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects in the Inland Empire area and Southern California region. The engineer at this level is in a developmental mode, being trained under close supervision in the utilization of engineering theories and practices while gaining exposure to company and industry procedures. You will be part of a team which primarily supports Caltrans projects and works on various projects with the regional transportation planning agencies, counties, cities, and transit agencies. The position is office based but offers a hybrid work model (2 days working from home).

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
3 years or more of related work experience supporting any state DOT highway projects
Experience with Caltrans projects in the State of California is desirable, but not required
The ability to communicate and effectively participate as part of an engineering team.

Nice To Haves

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate is preferred
Proficiency in utilizing AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation and InRoads, is preferred.

Responsibilities

Utilizing a foundation of gained experience, will perform various roadway engineering and design assignments requiring the application of engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity.
Utilize drafting and 3D modeling software, tools, and programs, to develop conceptual and detailed designs.
Proficient design work with MicroStation and/ or Autocad Civil 3D
Perform basic geometric alignments and design for various road and highway projects, inclusive of ramp ways and interchanges.
Perform design calculations including material quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates.
Assist in the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects.
Assist in the preparation of detailed requisitions for material purchase, services, and subcontracts.
Assist in reviewing supplier drawing submittments and technical bid analyses.
Provide input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project.
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
