About The Position

Marshall Dennehey, P.C., a nationally recognized Am Law 200 civil defense law firm with more than 60 years of service, is seeking a Professional Liability attorney with at least five years of legal experience for its Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office. The role is part of a collaborative, client-focused litigation team offering client interaction, practice growth, trial opportunities, and Federal Court practice.

The attorney will focus on U.S. Constitutional issues and defend government officials, police officers, prison guards, cities, and municipalities against civil rights and §1983 claims. The work involves interacting with officials, investigating allegations of improper conduct, and visiting prisons to interview and depose witnesses. The firm provides mentorship, hands-on experience, feedback, and individualized goal-setting, with the aim of building toward full case management over time.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of legal experience.
• Interest in U.S. Constitutional issues and defending civil rights and §1983 claims.
• Comfort interacting with officials, investigating allegations of improper conduct, and visiting prisons to interview and depose witnesses.
• Strong analytical thinking, legal writing, research, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Defend government officials, police officers, prison guards, cities, and municipalities against civil rights and §1983 claims.
• Interact with police officers, detectives, and other officials to determine what occurred during shootings and arrests.
• Investigate allegations of improper conduct.
• Visit prisons to interview and depose witnesses.
• Participate in litigation, including opportunities to try cases and practice in Federal Court.
• Develop toward full case management through collaboration with experienced shareholders and associates.
