About The Position
Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III to join its Roadway Design Transportation Group in the Richmond, Virginia office. The role supports transportation projects, including roadway widening and improvements, and involves roadway design, modeling, plan preparation, calculations, project estimates, field data collection, and project delivery support. The position also offers the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative team and grow professionally.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in transportation civil engineering, specifically roadway design.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with VDOT standards and procedures.
- EIT certification.
Responsibilities
- Design horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for roadway widening and improvement projects.
- Develop 3D models and plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
- Create visualizations for client and public presentations using 3D software.
- Prepare detailed plan sheets and complete project submission packages.
- Perform roadway and drainage calculations using engineering software and reference materials.
- Assist in preparing engineering and construction cost estimates.
- Research and use open-source GIS data for project planning.
- Conduct field observations and collect data to support design discussions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies to enhance team capabilities.
- Participate in client and contractor meetings to support project delivery.
