About The Position

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III to join its Transportation Design Group in the Ashburn, Virginia office. The position supports roadway design projects and involves preparing designs, calculations, specifications, plan sets, reports, cost estimates, and field observations under the direction of senior engineering staff. Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
At least two years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design is ideal.
Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer is essential.
Candidates must be willing to work at a dynamic pace and share the company’s Vision, Mission, and Shared Values.

Nice To Haves

Autodesk Civil 3D proficiency.
VDOT experience.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) credential.

Responsibilities

Design portions of projects using relevant office software, modeling, and Autodesk Civil 3D technology.
Complete engineering calculations using formulas, technical skills, and computers to solve problems.
Prepare specification materials using research and manufacturer catalogs to specify project materials, installation, inspection, and payment items.
Complete design details and plan sets.
Conduct research and write objective summary reports to support project work or inspection.
Assist with engineering and construction cost estimates.
Perform field observation, inspection, and data collection as directed by senior engineering staff.
Communicate with client staff and the internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff.
