The Civil Project Engineer is responsible for leading design efforts, overseeing the preparation of technical drawings and calculations. This role involves managing complex design tasks and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering solutions. The Civil Project Engineer works closely with senior engineers and project managers to ensure that designs meet both client expectations and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from ABET-accredited university.
  • 4-8 years of experience in engineering design and project coordination.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading complex or large-scale engineering projects.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, EIT certification or ability to obtain licensure in near term.

Responsibilities

  • Develop site layout, grading, drainage, and utility designs for industrial facilities and renewable energy projects (petroleum storage, processing, and transportation, solar, BESS).
  • Prepare construction drawings and plan sets (grading, access roads, equipment pads, stormwater systems) using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Perform hydraulic modeling and stormwater design (culverts, basins, conveyance systems) using HydroCAD, Hydraflow.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of Pennsylvania permitting processes and stormwater regulations, including NPDES, chapter 102 and 105 permits, and local municipal ordinances.
  • Coordinate civil designs with structural, electrical, mechanical, environmental, survey, and geotechnical teams to support integrated project delivery.
  • Conduct earthwork analysis, quantity takeoffs, and feasibility evaluations for large-scale developments.
  • Prepare permitting documents and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., NPDES, SWPPP).
  • Provide construction support and QA/QC review for both internal projects and owner engineer roles, including responding to RFIs, submittals, revising plans, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and consultants to integrate systems and equipment into comprehensive engineering solutions.
  • Participate in client and team meetings, presenting design updates and providing technical input on engineering solutions.
  • Conduct site visits or inspections to gather data, evaluate project conditions, or assist with construction administration as needed.
