About The Position

Our growing Design Team in the Akron, OH office is seeking a Civil/ Process Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience to join our Water Business Line. Arcadis serves many clients and project types in many market sectors. We combine technical expertise, a passion to serve, and a willingness to be adaptable in every project to serve water, industrial, and environmental clients nationwide. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated design engineer to join our team locally. The Civil/ Process Mechanical Engineer will use their experience and knowledge of water/wastewater/recycled water projects, design and construction engineering, and client service to successfully execute projects within the local municipal water/ wastewater market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field of study.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in water/wastewater/recycled water facilities design and construction support.
  • Functional experience with MS Office applications.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills and excellent technical writing skills.
  • Client relationship skills are a plus.
  • Current PE License in Ohio, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Task Lead, Task Manager, or Design Lead experience on water/wastewater projects of various sizes.

Responsibilities

  • Use Arcadis standards and specifications for water/wastewater design and construction projects.
  • Design and construction support for water/wastewater treatment plants, storm water systems, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations.
  • Assist in creation of construction documents and specifications and interact with and oversee the work of CAD staff.
  • Meet established budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment; for project/task scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Engage with clients to support needs and provide solutions.
  • Coordinate execution of projects with other engineering disciplines and office personnel.
  • Develop design projects from inception to completion, prepare construction packages (including all deliverables) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of water/wastewater systems for clients.
  • Create cost estimates and project schedules and perform detailed engineering calculations and analysis and use design software to solve complex challenges.
