Civil or Geotechnical/Water Resources Engineering Intern - Spring & Summer 2027
About The Position
Geosyntec is hiring a Civil or Geotechnical/Water Resources Engineering Intern for its Atlanta or Kennesaw, Georgia office for approximately 13–15 weeks during the spring and/or summer semester of 2027. The position provides an opportunity to apply academic engineering knowledge to real-world projects and learn business skills relevant to a consulting career. Preferred candidates may be able to return for an additional semester rotation during their undergraduate or graduate studies. The intern will support engineering work through calculations, technical writing, data analysis, and possible fieldwork. The role involves working with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators, contractors, and construction personnel. Local travel and driving to project sites may be needed, and the intern is responsible for arranging transportation to and from the office.
Requirements
- Currently registered in a bachelor's or master's university degree program in civil, geotechnical, or water resources engineering, or a related field.
- Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid U.S. driver's license, reliable transportation, and a satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with ArcView, CADD, and/or Microsoft Office.
- Exposure to environmental regulations and/or contaminated-site remediation through coursework or prior internship experience.
- Ability to return for an additional semester rotation during undergraduate or graduate studies.
Responsibilities
- Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools.
- Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Input and analyze data, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
- Follow instructions from and interact with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators, contractors, and construction personnel.
- Potentially conduct fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, and drilling and contractor oversight.
- Coordinate transportation to and from the office and travel locally or drive to project sites as needed.
- Drive personal, company, or rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites and other business locations as needed.
