About The Position

The Ohio Attorney General's Office is seeking a part-time Civil Investigator for the Legal Initiatives section. This position will operate on a hybrid in-person/remote schedule, with potential adjustments based on training and operational needs. The primary location is 30 E. Broad St., Columbus OH. Requirements

  • Completion of an associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Political Science, Accounting, Business, Finance, or other related field.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) months experience completing background, criminal, or civil investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts and assists with covert and overt investigations for civil prosecution, including on-site, computer, database, telephone, and internet searches.
  • Locates and interviews witnesses, victims, suppliers, informants, and suspects.
  • Collects, inventories, examines, evaluates, and preserves evidence.
  • Assumes covert identities as needed.
  • Plans, executes, and coordinates investigative activities with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
  • Assists prosecutors and law enforcement officers.
  • Prepares witnesses, obtains witness statements and affidavits.
  • Calculates victim damages and develops settlement options.
  • Prepares and serves subpoenas.
  • Testifies at administrative and court hearings.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and correlates case documents.
  • Prepares and maintains case logs, investigative reports, summaries, and case recommendations.
  • Participates in inter-office and multi-agency task forces and working groups.
  • Presents educational information to public and private groups and enforcement agencies.
  • Participates in investigative workshops, conferences, and training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
