About The Position

The Civil Intern will join EXP’s Transportation and Infrastructure Practice in Rome, Georgia, and learn and perform diversified civil engineering work under the direct supervision of a senior civil engineer. The work includes engineering design for highways, freeways, and local streets; preparing construction plans using MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other specialized civil engineering design programs; working with construction specifications; and estimating quantities and costs. The role requires working in a team environment and communicating effectively.

Requirements

• Currently studying for a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Knowledge of civil design and civil design computer programs.
• Knowledge of CADD programs such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Proficiency with MS Office software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Geopak and 3D modeling is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analysis and review of roadway plans, traffic data, reports, and geometric designs.
• Assist with planning and preliminary designs for roadways.
• Perform analysis and design calculations according to applicable design codes, using computer programs as appropriate.
• Prepare construction plans using CADD programs.
• Prepare construction specifications.
• Perform material quantity take-offs.
• Organize design calculations.
