About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Senior Inspector to join their rapidly expanding team. This role involves performing complex inspection tasks, including assessing adherence to quality control procedures for steel, and inspecting various facets of work on construction sites. The inspector will conduct continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Inspection activities may focus on soils, concrete, and underground piping. The role requires attention to detail and skill with financial reconciliations, including analysis of accounts receivable and unbilled aging reports, and analysis of reserves. At this level, inspectors document nonconformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline or construction-related field OR 10+ years of related experience on heavy construction projects OR a high school diploma and equivalent work experience.
  • Formal certification from an independent organization, depending on the type of inspection assignment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications.
  • Thorough familiarity with construction-related processes related to the area of assignment.
  • Potential to perform in a lead capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule testing to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications, including soil compaction, moisture content, aggregation, graduation, concrete slump, air entrainment, and concrete compression.
  • Perform surveillance of underground piping to ensure tightness, bedding, and grade.
  • Validate piping systems, including P&ID checks and hydraulic or other pressure tests.
  • Check the location of reinforcing steel before concrete placement.
  • Provide general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
  • Prepare quality assurance reports, tracking manpower, equipment, and work performed.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
